Melodies is an independent, locally run Musical Theatre Company, established in January 2012. We are very happy and proud to say we still have students who started with us then at the very beginning. Well, if they haven't left to go to college or University!
One such student is Charlotte Wiggins. She was only 9 when she started singing lessons with Cate, even before Melodies group classes began. Charlotte graduated in Musical Theatre & Cabaret from Chichester Conservatoire and is now working as a professional singer! Well Done, Charlotte!
Two of our long-term students Emma & Amber are going into their second year of University studying Musical Theatre and this September Phoebe is off to ICTheatre, Congratulations!
Check out their videos on our Then and Now page to see their progression thanks to their dedication, talent and training.

The Beginnings:
Coming back in Rushden after years of working away, Cate soon realised there was no schools in the area offering Musical Theatre. How could that be? Teaching Charlotte and another singing student Charlie, made Cate realise that now was the time for performing to take a backseat and teaching to become full time. So from the living room in her new home, Melodies was born. The DREAM? To inspire the young people of NN10 to get into musical theatre, whatever their age or skill, by delivering fun, flexible professional level training at affordable prices.
The first term was just Cate in church hall with 11 students over 2 age groups, 4-7s and 8-12s. Not too bad! So Cate decide to extend the classes to the 3hr stage school with the help another local trained performer and teacher of dance, Chris Thirwell. They started with 2 age groups - Juniors and Seniors - and 12 students, with the infants still being taught in the week with Cate.
The following spring, Jill Osborne called Cate to say she was moving to Wellingborough. She could not believe the luck! Jill was one of Cate's dance teachers at The Voice School in North London, teaching her tap and dance conditioning every week, and she has a staggering professional career under her belt. With Chris soon to be going on a new adventure, Cate jumped at the chance to get Jill involved. The infants class was added, along with baby ballet and senior contemporary dance, and here we are, 10 years later, 80 students strong!
When comparing like-for-like classes in the local area, we 100% believe we are the best all rounder - the most experienced teachers, the lowest prices, high quality shows whilst still being a fun, friendly and nurturing environment for those young stars to thrive!
