OUR MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES
Saturday sessions are 3 hrs, 1hr each of Singing, Dance & Drama.
SINGING: Students will have 1hr of singing, starting with technical exercises to improve range and breathing and then learning repetoire and performance techniques.
DANCE: In the 1hr Dance sessions, the students will be working on the technique from ISTD Modern Dance and ballet syllabus alongside learning Musical Theatre routines, that will also be sung. Class will include, a technical warm-up to improve flexibility and strength, set syllabus exercises and the learning & performance of routines.
DRAMA: The drama sessions will consist of both improvisational drama games and exercises, creating scenes and characters and script work for older students. This is great for building general confidence as well as for performing.
Wednesday Classes are 90mins and also involve a mix of the above
All our shows are custom written to provide the best showcase for our students, not just a few main parts.
We do bi-annual "big" shows, (so far we have done The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland) in which children can audition for main parts, small parts or non-speaking parts, depending on their choice.
On the alternate years we do a showcase, of scenes, songs and dances from Musicals, that features all classes and age groups equally, with which we then write a theme or a story to link them all together. This gives the students a better chance to work on their technique in eacd discipline, whilst building confidence before the next auditionable show.
We also do a yearly Christmas Party and Performance, where all funds go to a Charity supporting the local area and public performances in summer and some Christmases.
